The idea for this beer came to me one day when I was getting yelled at by SWMBO for something that was extremely minor. I decided that I somehow needed to pair some chocolate with a beer with a kick. If I could figure out a way to add a few Midol to each bottle, I'd do that too.

My hope is that 2 of these will give her a chocolate fix and knock her out during that "difficult time".

My next Chocolate Stout will have Chocolate Nips in it! from what people at ProBrewer are talking about that is the way to add that little choco tweak.

That have been using 10 pounds in a 8BBL which would be about 1/5 of a pound in a 5G batch. grind up the nibs (do NOT google Chocolate Nibs at work - Chocolate Nibs are the center of the Cocoa Bean) and add to the boil at 15 minutes.

Just a suggestion. recipe looks good to me! Black Barley??? Never used it.

I presume Black Barley is Roasted Barley.

Anyway, I think you've got a good recipe here, except for one thing - you've gone overboard on the Aromatic. More than a half-pound tends to overwhelm; two pounds will completely dominate the beer.

Cheers!

Bob
