Hi i started on 1/14 with an OG of 1.046 and 1/21 couple days since activity stopped I had a gravity of 1.020. That left an av. alcohol content of 3.3 . Im transferring to secondary... wasnt sure if im completely fermented...

Also.... this was extract and partial grain recipe..... after in glass carboy i noticed that there is a 1/2' of a liquid floating on top of the brew... as if it was a layer of oil over water... never seen that before,,,,,

This is my third batch of beer..... can forward pictures of carboy if someone needs to see....

Thanks in advance !!

Mike

Any better descriptions of what it looked like?

It probably wasn't done fermenting yet. What temperature is it sitting at?

same color as my beer amber.. but its like there are 2 liquids of different densities that separated.... one on top of other

Can you post the recipe? I don't know why anything would have seperated. And pictures would be great.
