Can I boil my stir bar to sanitize it?

Any way to make it quieter?
I have it just spinning in water now. Maybe an actual starter will be different.

Do I still let the starter settle out and pour off the worth then pitch?
Or is better to just keep it stirring until I'm ready to pitch?

Next step will be adding some lights I think...

Yes you can boil stir bar in water.
Put a cardboard box over it upside down or something to quiet it, or put it somewhere you don't have to listen to it.
If you're makin a large starter like 2L or more, I would chill it on fridge, decant most wort, stir remaining to suspend compacted yeast and pitch that. Or pitch it all if its 1L or less.

I noticed that my stir bar was much quieter in the starter that in the water.
It was VERY noisy in the water but was not really noticable in the starter

Put a couple of o-rings on it, equally distant from the center.
