i am currently about to bottle my 3rd batch of beer but it is my first not using pre-assembled packages. My question is what type of sugar should i use for priming and how much i should use. It is a 5 gallon batch.
red ale with a final gravity of 1.010

I like to use 1 ounce of priming sugar (corn sugar) by weight per gallon of finished beer. You could use table sugar, but a bit less.

If you don't have a scale, I'm not sure what the measurement is but I've heard that 3/4 cup of corn sugar is abour right for 5 gallons.

^^^^^^^^ or you can use 1.25 cups of light or x-light DME if you have it. Don't ask me what it weighs.
