Not sure I'll be using commercial yeast nutrient in anything smaller than 5 gallons. Long story short I have a lot of cleaning to do and some hardcore JP8 cider to dilute.

Is this a question? Sorry just not following what you are getting at... what is hardcore?

Sorry, it really wasn't a question so much as posting an experience with commercial yeast nutrient. I have heard some people use it with no problem, and I have heard some not using it. Those that don't preferred a natural yeast nutrient like raisin juice.

My first batch I didn't use yeast nutrient, it turned out good. My second batch I just did, 5.5 gallons, used WYeast Liquid Yeast and put 5 tsp of nutrient in it. This thing fermented for almost 20 days :D Ended up at 12.35% and tastes good.

Hmm... So your saying I need to try it again with another batch? Oh darn. Well I guess if it's the only way I'll learn. :D
