Is there an equivalent of a braggot with Cider? That is, where > 50% of the fermentables come from apples, but is brewed like a beer with hops and barley.

Good idea.
When I was in England (90-92), when I ordered a snake bite, I would get served a cider with black currant in it. Maybe there was some beer in there, but I never noticed it

The blackcurrant tends to overpower any other flavours in there...but it's highly likely that either 1) you didn't notice or 2) they served you a cider and black because a lot of places refuse to serve snakebite on the grounds that it's weapons grade loopy juice!
