Well, this is it. It's on the calendar and I'm flying my brother-in-law architect/carpenter in for his help. We should have it under roof by the end of the weekend. Yuri is swinging by to help as are a few other friends. I'm picking up a keg of NxNW Pale Ale just in case they go through 10 gallons of Haus Ale.

Ground Preparation starts April 24th.

I'll post progress pics here.

Hey Ed,
Any plans you can post up? How big of a hut are we talking here?
Good luck with the build.

It's going to be 12'x20' minimum with a gabled roof. Brewery in the back that can brew rain or shine, day or night. Up front is the Bierstube with 4 faucets coming from the cold room. Bee Cave Brewery becomes reality, just at an amature level.

wow can't wait to see...hoping for copious documentation

If I lived down in texas I'd give you a hand building it.

I love framing! It's the most rewarding part of building for me. I wish I was close so I could lend a hand.

Are you pouring a slab?

Take lots of pictures!

At least there's a pole for some hired help to dance around.

A littel off topic, but in New Westminster (near Vancouver) there is a brewpub that is a strip bar. When visiting my brother we go there for the uh, fine.. beers. ;)

So, you gonna post any plans of your brew house, Ed?

I caught it. Only 4? I guess I just didn't want to embarass Ed.

J/K.

I guess I could bump it to 8. Hmmm, 8 faucets. Let me see..

Apfelwein
Haus Ale
Kolsch
Oktoberfest
Bavarian Hefe
IPA
Robust Porter
Dry Stout on N02

Yeah, I think I could do 8. That would cover my range pretty well.

One of those cafepress tiles with your BeeCave labels and that would be pretty damned sweet.

Er...olllllo,

The operative words there were "cold room", which I understood to mean "walk in cooler".

:D

I'd take a cold room for 4 taps anyday...of course my bar with have at least eight...just say'n!

:cross:

Sounds like a fun project.
I always have had a dream of getting a parcel of land way up north and setting up the ultimate garage (3 car + loft area).
It will be nice to see what you come up with

Bookmarked and Prosted

Cheers

He's building a fricking brewery. I had to figure out some way to bring him down to our level.

For those of you that this sounds like a new idea to:

:mug:
I'd love to have that, but it is out of my price range. I'll spend the difference just finishing the inside of this one. SWMBO will make it Bavarian looking somehow. And this sign gets hung on the wall above the taps.

Free Beer, that's Tomorrow.

I'm sure it will be fabulous, Ed.

And, if it wasn't like a three day's journey from Mississippi, I'd be there to help you out...

...finishing off kegs...er......too!

:cross:

I will be in San Antonio this coming Saturday (Apr 12) thru next Wednesday (Apr 16) for work, but if you need any help let me know and I might be able to grab a rental car and make the trip.

Congrates Ed. If you need an extra set of hands, I might be able to make it that sat. Wont know until that week.

My friend is installing a urinal in his workshop that exits "French drain" style. His Dad has one in his "saloon". You might consider doing such a thing. Especially with 4 to 8 taps running in there. :drunk:

Interesting, but I will be installinga french drain for my sink, just rinsing kegs, & such.

Plenty of "urinals" out side to left & right of the brewery. :D One of the benefits of 4+ acres and no sight of neighbors.

I guess you don't have to worry about the winters where you live. :)

Damn Ed, can't wait to see the beer porn that is to come. Should be excellent.

By the way, here in CA, we don't care what the neighbors say, my kids like to drop their drawers without notice and see how high they can pee on the fence. The old nut doesn't fall far from the tree :)

Congrats anyway, I someday hope to follow in your footsteps.

Cheers

FWIW, that WILL get nasty over time. I know this from doing field training in places where people camp from season to season. You get a nasty urine-like film all over everything. Frickin' gross. But then again...."French Style" drains are pretty gross too :D

Good luck Ed, I wish I had a place to put my brewery other than all over the house...

I know if I attempted to build one I would be lucky to have it turn out this good :)

True, but the occasional watering is not a problem. Good thing a real WC is not far.
