I posted this on another thread but didn't get a response...

I have an extract version of Centennial Blonde (now in the fermenter on day 12). My measured OG was 1044 which is much less than 1054 estimated by Beersmith. Could my OG really be that far off from Beersmith, or is it more likely that I botched my hydrometer reading? I mixed it really well before sampling. Also, this thing fermented out in 3 days. FG has been at 1011 for over a week.

Here is the actual recipe:

5 lbs Extra Light Dry Extract
1 lbs Cara-Pils
1 lbs Crystal 10L
0.25 oz Centennial (45 min)
0.25 oz Centennial (20 min)
0.25 oz Cascade (10 min)
0.25 oz Cascade (5 min)
1 Pkgs Nottingham Yeast-Ale

Beer Profile
Est Original Gravity: 1.054 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.013 SG

Edit: I also did a late extract addition with 2 Lbs. of the extract last 15 minutes. 2.5 gal boil with 3 gal. top off. 5 gal. final volume.

Looks like you are right where you need to be.

It does look to be a good lawnmower beer

I think you accuracy issure came from a beersmith setting, that is still an extract brew, not a PM

none the less Congrats ITS BEER !!!!!:mug:

DOH!!! You're right, Cheeto. I had Beersmith set on PM not Extract. I changed it and the estimated results are just what you show. Thanks!
