Hey all,
It's been about a week for my American Pale Ale extract kit from my LHBS. I have had krausen on my previous few batches and it usually fell after a week or 2. I'm at just over a week and it has had Krausen that is different then my previous 2 batches (safale s-05 & Danstar Nottingham) this one looks thick and snotty/stringy like a solid cake... here's a picture... I just wanted to know if it looks normal and will it eventually drop? Frrmenting @ 62-65 degrees in dark closet. Thanks guys!

Perfectly normal. S-04 is a whitbread strain variant and clumps together like crazy (always looks like cottage cheese to me). It will drop eventually.

So just an update... Another week another no change to the krausen...still waiting... How long should it typically take for the krausen to fall?

They look pretty clear in your original post. The Krausen may not completely fall out. Check your gravity...is it still dropping or is it stable? I usually leave it 3-4 weeks in primary then keg.

It's super clear just with gunk on top an on bottom... I didn't know if I can siphon it out with the gunk on top... I don't have a hydrometer :-\ but it will be 3 weeks on Saturday and need a carboy to Brew my next batch so it might be bottle time and leave for a while... It's for my wedding favors which isn't until June 28 so they'll have more then enough time to age!
