This weekend I'm brewing an IPA with a projected OG of 1.070. It's only a 3 gallon batch (all grain, stovetop), and I'll be using S-05. I've never brewed a gravity this high, and have yet to experiment with yeast starters, but I'm not averse to it.

Question is, is it even necessary for this one?

If unsure about it after all of this, I'll probably just pitch the yeast and see how it attentuates, then pitch more if needed. What would you all do?
