Am I the only one that doesn't care for the pumpkin everything? No sir...nope....I don't like it. Hell, I was actually looking forward to something from New Belgium for once. I thought the Red Hoptober was pretty good. But Nooooooo, they came out with a pumpkin ale. The Pumpkin Wars are getting out of hand.... On the bright side, just kegged my own version of the Red Hoptober, and it tastes pretty damn good. So there!!

we have one pumpkin growing. are you happy now?!?

I want a pumpkin pie flavored chew.
I want pumpkin/WY3711 scented air fresheners.
I want Pumpkin scented deodorant (not antiperspirant).
I want to grew pumpkin flavored/scented hops.

I designed and brewed a pumpkin ale last year that sold out fast. Personally I am not a fan and never drank more than a 2oz sample glass, but other seem to like it for some reason.

I'll have some pumpkin pie at thanksgiving, maybe a piece or two of pumpkin bread (esp with cream cheese frosting) but that's about it. SWMBO and I split a bomber of Southern Tier Pumking last fall and that was probably the first pumpkin beer I'd had in five years.

I agree, the pumpkin beer thing is overrated. Maybe it stems from people not being able to make a proper Oktoberfest, so they think pumpkin beer replaces it. I don't know. That being said, I am curious about the PumKing just because of how much hype it gets. Just not curious enough to choose it over Stone's Gotterdammerung when I was at total wine yesterday. THAT is a delicious beer.

I'm not a big fan of gourds meself. I've never had a pumpkin beer, and don't want one. So I don't buy them. Of course, next is the winter warmers with spiced beer and cinnamon and all that... even worse than pumpkin beer season. That's why I homebrew!

I like pumpkin beers. It's one of the things I look forward to when the fall brews come out. Having more breweries make them means that there's more variety for me to try. I would like to see more creativity with it though. Being able to buy singles in a bottle shop adds to flexibility so I'm not stuck with 5 more of a beer I end up not liking.

As far as seasonal offerings, I like the idea that Coors does with Blue Moon where they release multiple beer offerings in a case. I wasn't blown away by the beers but it was nice to have more than just a bunch of pumpkin beers. I would like to see craft breweries do the same, where they release multiple beers in a set. Sam Adams does it but I can think of a ton of breweries that I'd like to have do this.

Theres actually a few breweries that do this. Kona, widmer bros, and new belgium all pop into my head, and im sure theres others out there

I had New Belgiums Pumpkick and it was only because I was craving pumpkin beer. I regretted buying it after because just like the rest of their products .. I found I didn't enjoy that beer either.

I love the winter beers the best in regard to seasonals. I love hitting the bar and having some pumpkin ale, oktoberfest, winter warmers, chirstmas ales, xmas stouts.

I love pumpkin ale, and pumpkin pie, and pumkin bread, and carving pumpkins, and.....

magic hat also has a sampler pack

The only new belgium product i ever enjoyed was mothership wit, but they don't make it anymore.

Yeah I've seen those along with others like Red Hook, Gordon Biersch, etc. I just wish it was more common. I don't think I've seen one from Stone, DFH, Avery, Lagunitas, Bell's, etc. If they do make them, it might just be limited distribution or something.

I have never had more than a sip of pumpkin beer. All the pumpkin beers and pumpkin spice beers are crap. I like pumpkin bread, rools and pie but not beer. To be 100 % honest I don't like fruit beers or sour beers.

Some gourd beers are good, some are meh, some suck completely.

Cigar City's Good Gourd is pretty good and probably the one I like the best. It's better if it ages a year or two, usually. So far this year, i've also tried Southern Tier pumpking, New Holland ichabod and a slew of locals. All have ranked meh.

What I have really liked this year is mixing a pumpkin beer with a good imperial stout. Layered properly, it can be magic in a glass.

It's seasonal and festive. And flavor is subjective, so there's that :)

I like a good pumpkin beer once in a while, and brewed one last year, though I still have some left. Definitely not a daily driver, but I dig them in the Fall and Winter months.

The whole pumpkin beers in Summer is just commercialism, trying to make a few more bucks.

Word.

I hate hearing about pumpkin beer so much that I created a word filter for pumpkin. This thread has a lot of asterisks. :cross:

Its not the pumpkin that makes these beers awful, its the spice. Man do I hate spiced beers. They make me gag. Pumpkin by itself doesn't taste like much in beer.

You are not alone. I've tried several punkin ales I don't like any. I tried one yesterday just to see if my tastes had changed. Nope! By the time I got to the last drink my gag reflex was kickin in.

It really was a long time before I found a pumpkin beer I liked. I was also hesitant to make one because I wasn't sure if I could get through. 5 gallons of it.

But I really like the one I made and I'm bummed that I haven't had a chance to make it yet. But it will be the first thing to go into my new fermentation freezer after I build the controller this week.

Supply and demand. This isn't some conspiracy by the breweries to make us drink pumpkin. People really love this style of beer. It's one of my least favorite styles but I still make one because everybody wants it.

I look at it this way: At least once a year, people/sheep/BMC drinkers buy pumpkin beers when they would normally buy BMC. If this season only serves to steal a six pack or two from them, then we are better for it.

If you're a "Can't wear white after Labor Day" kind of person:

Halloween decorations & costumes were in the store today. It's officially legit to drink pumpkin beer from now through Thanksgiving.

Christmas Ales start two weeks before Halloween when the decorations show up in the stores & run through New Years.

Thanks to the OP, I had to filter common mispellings of pumpkin.

I also filtered Pumking which, by the way, is the most disgusting pumpkin beer that hoards of people seem to mysteriously enjoy.

I have a pumpkin ale hanging out until thanksgiving when I plan to do black and tans with it and my Irish stout.

But I love everything fall and winter even more.

I like the pumpkin pie spice ones, I like the light pumpkin ones, but I don't like green eggs and ham

I am indeed a fan of a good pumpkin beer. If it doesn't taste like pumpkin then it is hardly worth my time.
I also love pumpkin spice lattes. It's the only time I seek out coffee from Starbucks or any coffee house.

Ptooooie hate pumpkin anything. Enjoy them all you like I'll pass thank you. And for the umpteenth time, no, I will NOT brew you a pumpkin beer.

Can you smell it? Like warm pumpkin pie. :D

Spices mellow through fermentation quite a lot. One of my favorite brews that I have done.
