Is there any advantage to skimming off the hot break when it occures or just let it go back into the brew?

This is one of those topics that people can endlessly debate. Does removing it take protein out of the final beer so you have less head retention? Or is the effect so minor it's unnoticeable?

I guess my thought is that it's part of the grain - it should stay in there. Seems like the people who skim are just the antsy, impatient types who can't sit still for more than 2 seconds and always have to be doing something.
