I'm fairly new to brewing, having only made about 8 batches. With the last 3 batches I've started using my own recipes and have been having problems with head retention. When poured, the beer foams, but quickly dissipates, leaving me headless. The beer is adequately carbonated, so I think I'm using the correct amount of priming sugar. I tried Munton's Kreamy X on the batch before last, but that didnt' help either. Any help would be appreciated.:mug:

Are you sure you beer glasses are free of soap residue? A "beer clean" glass is essential to long lasting head.

Do you add any wheat to your recipes? That will help head retention too, but a clean glass is the most important thing.

Welcome to the forum, BTW!

Carapils/dextrin help out with head retention too if you use it as a specialty grain. I've seen people use 1/2 lb. in a 5 gallon batch
