I had previously purchased a rebuilt fridge and converted it to a kegerator. The temperature fluctuated between 20 and 55 degrees. I wasnt sure how long it was staying around 20 so I continued to use the fridge. Then my kegged pale ale froze. I just got rid of that fridge and purchased a cheap new one. Annoyingly the min/max thermometer has it between 21 and 44. Do I need to purchase a temp controller? I had a small kegerator awhile ago and never monitored the temp and my beer never froze.

Anyone have experience with this or suggestions?
Thanks

Most cheap fridges have a fair bit of swing to them, though 21 to 44 is more than I'd expect. If you are getting that much variation, you might indeed need a temp controller to make that fridge work.

Looks like I'll be going out to purchase a temp controller. Thanks!
