adding water post ferm

So, I made this sorghum and Belgian candy syrup concoction for my wife. It is a three gallon batch. When transferring to the fermentor I flaked on adding some more water post-boil to bring it back up to 3 gallons. Can I boil some water, let it cool, and add it when I keg to bring it back up to 3 gallons?
