Have brewed multiple batches of brew that come out fizzy and taste too much like carbonation. Wondering if anyone has an ingredient or idea of how to control this. Thanks

Sounds like too much X in your priming solution. I've also found that table sugar gives higher carb levels and sometimes a slight flavor.

How much priming sugar and what size batch are you making? It sounds like it's overcarbed.

Try cutting back the priming sugar a little. When I bottled, I would use 3/4 cup
(4oz). As stated in John Palmer's How to Brew.

I'm making 5 gal brews with 5 oz of priming sugar before bottling

There's the rub! I remember my extract batches used to come w/ a 5oz packet but tended to be overcarbed. Once I started using software to help me with recipes, I noticed that only the highest-carbed styles use 5oz or more!
