Anyone know of any good ones? I have to go there for work an was hoping to sample some of Michigan's awesome craft beer offerings.

My favorite brewpub, Dragonmead (I suppose its technically a microbrewery) is just south of Troy in Warren. Its on 11 mile rd on the S/W corner of groesbeck and I-696. They have great beer and great people. The owner really enjoys it and takes great care of the place. The staff know about beer, everything is always clean, everyone is friendly. I have never had a single beer that was "off" like you hear about in a lot of brew pubs. All in all it is a great place to spend an evening.

There are a lot of other places within a 15-20 minute drive. Just to name a few: Rochester Mills, Kuhnnen Brewing, Royal Oak Brewing, Copper Canyon and more. They're all great as well. I just don't go to them as often as I'm not as close to them as I am to Dragonmead.

Check out this site for a list of Mi brewpubs/microbreweries. http://www.beer100.com/brewpubs_l_to_n/michigan.htm

Try Granite City. It's at Big Beaver (16 mile) and I-75. The food is pretty good and their beer isn't too bad either. If you are in the business section of Troy (which I assume you are if you are coming in for work) it's probably within walking distance. They actually have some fairly odd "mixed" beer. They take varying styles and try them together. I thought that it would be horrible at first, but some of the mixtures actually aren't that bad.

I do second Kuhnnens in Warren. Rochester Mills and Royal Oak Brewing are owned by the same people and have the same beer (They also own Detroit Beer Company). Try one and you are good to go.

I'm from Baltimore attending my wife's family reunion in Michigan. On the way we stopped at Dragonmead. 43 if their own beers on tap with a 3BBL system. They must brew constantly! I left with two growlers, a keg of Sin Eater (11% abv Belgian) and a really cool tap handle.

You wouldn't go there for the food but it was all priced $5 or under. You really just go for the beer.

They make thier own sodas too. It's worth the trip.
