Head Retention

Upon reading a bunch of reviews on beeradvocate.com, and some people seem a little too adamant on head retention.

I dont care about a beer's head. It just gets in the way when I drink IMO, but some some reason, some snobs criticize beers just because they dont have a big head or a good looking head or a head that lasts a while.


are any of you guys with me on this one?
 
I personally appreciate a good, foamy long lasting head. To me it's a visual thing and I like presenting a beer that looks amazing. That's just me though, and I can see for why a slowly dissipating head might be a PITA.
 
A nice long lasting head usually means that good ingredients and good brewing practices were used.
