Found some decent prices on some 1TB drives. Been considering using one for a audio (music cd's) and video (DVD) server. But I don;t want to connect teh bigscreen or the stereo directly to the pc.

there once was a time that Roku was the solution but I haven't heard much good about Roku lately.

Are there any other "reliable" bridges atht anyone uses for this?

What is the price point?

HD compatible?

I can compare all day long but I am curious what other have found and trust.

the xbox360 or the ps3 make great bridges. one other thing to consider as well is a atom powered computer. they are small quiet and have the ability to be loaded with the internal drives that can replace the dvd player and be able to stream any hd you want. price can range between 150 for a refurb 360 to 400 for a new ps3.

Found what I was looking for. They are apparently called "Media Extenders" now. And for any one else interested, take a look at AnyDVD, Clone DVD, and Virtual Clone Drive.
