Comparing shanks. What's $6 better about this one?

Beer is acidic. Eventually the plating will degrade and flake.

Look around more for a less expensive stainless shank. They are out there.
 
If there are cheaper stainless shanks, I haven't found them. I have the nippled ones from superprod and they're holding up OK after a year.

I ended up ordering 5 Perlick Faucets ($32 each) and 5 4-inch nipple shanks ($16) from Rapids Wholsale Equipment. I may have been able to save a couple bucks on the shanks somewhere else, but the Perlicks were about as cheap as I've seen.
 
@Stunned, Super Prod has about the same price on the Perlicks, $31.29 plus ship. Excellent find tho! I think my shanks were $18 ea from Austin HB.
