This is my first batch of wine and so my wine started fermenting and all of the sudden on day 2 it started smelling up the whole room like it smells like a half fermented title wave came through is that normal?

Ah Yeast farts, we do love to sniff em. Now if it turns into smelling like fingernail polish remover, a sweaty horse, a barnyard or bandaid you have a problem. Good luck, WVMJ

Thanks, it's in the closet and the wife didnt like the smell so I covered the carboy with a blanket and the smell stays in the closet for the most part

This can be really serious.

First you should incorporate and make your best friend a block holder.

Next start signing assets over to the corporation along with your entire life savings.

Then contact the best divorce lawyer you can find in the city and pay him a handsome retainer.

...or just put the carboy in the closet...that works too...

Okay, this one got me laughing for quite awhile!

I've had some strong smelling brews before. I keep my brewing in the spare bathroom, all in the cabinet under the sink. 1 gallon batches and my Mr Beer kegs fit perfectly (2 LBKs, 6 1 gallon jugs). This has several advantages, but the biggest one is that the bathroom has an exhaust fan! When something starts smelling strongly, I close the door and turn on the fan. Like magic - no one has to smell it!
