Got my fingers crossed that I'll land a job in Maine... :D Where gun racks are not only legal, I believe they're required in trucks. :ban: :rockin:

BTW, try to even think about getting a silencer in MA for a firearm you own... Up in NH, you can't swing a dead politician without finding a gun store that offers them (you still need to do the fed thing, but no blocking by the state). :rockin:

geeze, MA has a secondary block? Like, I was not planning to get one, but everything I read makes this state more foolish.

WTF good is a silencer, anyway? They can't even find or put away the guys with the noisy tools.

Ahhh, Maine. Or Vermont. Less than an hour away. I must find another telecommuting job.

I'm going after a job up in Dover, NH and got info on roles opening up for a company up in Maine too (helps to have friends)... :D As long as I get paid enough to take care of all my expenses, brew (and other hobbies) and save some, I'm happy. :rockin:

BTW, I could see the silencer being used to take out those varmints without the neighbors knowing. Put it onto an AR15 and have fun. :D

I have several dogs. Occasionally there has been a full-on furball. Half strength pepper spray and full strength citronella they totally ignore.

Wasp spray is very effective. I've read that it will deter animals nearly as effectively as bear mace.

I shoot in the basement. No one gets killed with this.

HK guy here. All fed by a Dillon 550b.

I've cranked out 10s of thousands of rounds on my old Rock Chucker but lately I've been wanting to go progressive. Everyone keeps saying get the 550b but I really think i want the RCBS progressive. The 550b doesn't auto index correct??

The RCBS is a very nice press. The 550b is not auto index. You have to advance the cycle manually. The Dillon 650 is the full auto index model.

As the OP, I am drinking a nice stout from green flash brewing....and my gun :)

yeah, tell me about it. i'm in California... land of 2nd Amendment suppression.

Seriously. But even worse than the laws on owning guns in California is the fact that there is so little land to actually use them on. More and more public land gets closed to hunting or was closed off years ago. Here in Northern California/Bay Area you have to go all the way out to Sacramento. Or there are like 1 or 2 places in north bay that the god durn'd yuppie ****s moving out of the city want to close off.

Ahhhhh I love random Gun Porn. :ban:

Here is a pic of what I am building behind enemy lines in libertarianism communist Massachusetts.

I took a guy from Germany...he works for Greenpeace Germany...caving last weekend. After caving, we talked of guns and soon enough had a 22 pistol in his hand. Next a colt Anaconda, then a bull barreled AR 15, then finally my Remington Sendero 300 win mag. He went from being opposed to guns in general (never having shot one before) to cussing the strict gun control laws in Germany...all within a matter of a hundred or so rounds. If we could just get those yuppie ****s to feel the joy of shooting... Maybe there could be a "shoot with yuppies" day. (Notice how carefully that was worded.) Aw, we don't have many yuppies in South Dakota, so good luck out in Cal. By the way, the German fella loved my Karst Monkey Stout. Shoot straight.

Well, got two SKS's at home now... One is a 1954 model, just wish the bayonet lug hadn't been removed back when my father bought it. :( Back when he got that one (and another one) the new gun control laws were about to take effect (the first round). I believe he had the lug removed in order to make them compliant with the new laws. We're talking about something that happened 20+ years ago, in Florida.

Also got some info on other guns in the safe (soon to be at my place). One is a Browning Citori 16 gauge with 410 tubes. Need to do some more research on which one we have. It could be worth some good money. Another is a Janssen Sons & CO 'The Interchangeable" 12 gauge shotgun. From what I've found online, not the greatest shotgun made during it's day. Not really safe to shoot today either. I didn't plan on shooting it, or even selling it since it was my great grandfather's. Believe he used it in the 1920's.

Looking forward to having those, and more, all at my place. :rockin:

I would like to get my collection appraised, and learn how to properly clean and care for them. Thought about throwing them all in the back seat, along with all the paperwork for each one, which I have copies of and even made copies of the copies. All perfectly legal. Carry them down to a gun shop and have someone look at them. But worried if I happen to get pulled over with them piled in my back seat, and not sure that's a good idea anyway, to me, it appears that none are loaded, I do know how to empty one. Not in cases or anything, just spread out all over granddad's house and finally getting inheritance cleaned up. What to keep, what to sell. 3 or 4 pistols, a dozen rifles, all bigger than the one he gave me for my birthday and I still need to wrap a towel around the butt end to keep from getting bruised. I'll ask around but thought I'd ask here too. Where to start...

1. Use google to look up information on the guns. Manuals and such for most can usually be found and this would help checking out if they are loaded.. (bad thing).

2. Again use google or whatever to see if any of your guns are listed as being for sale. This would give you some idea as to their value. Gun stores will give you prices that allow them to make a very healthy profit from your lack of knowledge.

3. Look into a forum that deals with firearms (like Homebrewtalk) DEFENSIVECARRY.COM might be a good start. Tons of guys and gals on there that could give you advice. Never sell off old guns before knowing about them. A simple old Colt six shooter or Winchester can be worth thousands if not more.

OMO

bosco

ps. UNTIL YOU ARE SURE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM IS UNLOADED, TREAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM AS A LOADED FIREARM..

I'll start with that, look up each manual and make sure/double check none are loaded. Then go from there with other suggestions. You are right, just start with that. It's like an episode of hoarders here, the tv show, but all good. Finding many diamonds in the ruff. Looking forward to learning more about the guns.

ps. UNTIL YOU ARE SURE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM IS UNLOADED, TREAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM AS A LOADED FIREARM..

Even if I am absolutely positive they are not loaded, I will still treat them that way. Granddad taught me that... he'd probably roll over in his grave seeing me pile them into the back seat without checking into all this stuff first. Thanks.

What state are you in? Gun laws vary wildly by state, and in some states having an uncased firearm in your backseat is a no-no (and a felony in some cases). Make sure you're doing it correctly. If you're in Michigan, let me know...I know all the laws and then some (I'm a federally licensed dealer).

Now...I think I need to start brewing a bock or something...:ban:

I picked up a decent shape Miroku 500 side-by-side 12ga this week from a co-worker for $200. From what I'm finding online and hearing from my cousin, I stole it. Anyone know about this brand?

What sate are you from? I might be able to get you a list of laws regauding transport.

Be careful with apraisals, most gun shops will lowball you.

Unless it was used as a jack handle you got yourself a killer deal. There are different price ranges for Miroku's but taking an average of best to least expensive you have a nice shotgun for a steal of a price.:ban:

Florida, thank you if you can help!

Do check out values and such before packing them off to a dealer.

This may help with transport (within the State of Florida);

(5) Possession in Private Conveyance.--Notwithstanding subsection (2), it is lawful and is not a violation of s. 790.01 for a person 18 years of age or older to possess a concealed firearm or other weapon for self-defense or other lawful purpose within the interior of a private conveyance, without a license, if the firearm or other weapon is securely encased or is otherwise not readily accessible for immediate use. Nothing herein contained prohibits the carrying of a legal firearm other than a handgun anywhere in a private conveyance when such firearm is being carried for a lawful use. Nothing herein contained shall be construed to authorize the carrying of a concealed firearm or other weapon on the person. This subsection shall be liberally construed in favor of the lawful use, ownership, and possession of firearms and other weapons, including lawful self-defense as provided in s. 776.012.

Florida is a decent State when it comes to firearms laws.

I am not a lwayer but the above is part of Florida law to the best of my knowledge.

I do believe in florida as it was posted above you can transport guns just simply by putting them in the trunk unloaded with the action open.
Bosco quoted the exact law but legal jargon makes my head hurt

Isn't it funny how the liberal, open minded, free thinking, intellectual master minds are so narrow minded when it comes to firearms? Anyone in one of the communist leaning socialist areas may want to look into black powder firearms. They are effective and great fun to use. Any of you who have never used them regardless of where you live should also look into them. There is a lot to be said for firing a side lock and even more for a cap and ball revolver. Great history and great fun.

I guess a car trunk or tool box on a truck would count as "securely encased"?

Thanks, yeah, made me dizzy reading it. I'm not ready to run out and take them anywhere today, but good to know. Will keep researching, thanks guys.
