Hi Guys,

I am located in Southern California. The hops are in their second year of growth.

I have a good yield, but over the last week my cones appear to have matured very quickly. Did I miss my harvest or do I have another problem?

The issue is very apparent with my Cascade who's cones have yellowed and even burned on some edges. Some cones are dropping from my Cascade and Chinook. My Chinook are also yellow and papery, but not as many have burned.

My Nuggets look great, and my Willamette have not produced.

An overall picture of my setup. This is in afternoon sun.

I'd pick them asap. The time frame for harvest differs year to year, heat, humiditiy, etc.. all play a role. It's been warm and dry up here, I'll probably be dealing with the same situation come fall. They look pretty dry but not destroyed.

Good luck!

Thank Phil! I took your advice and harvested my Cascade and Nugget this evening. I will harvest the others this weekend or a week from now since they seem to be in good shape.

I also thought I should show off my uber cheap drying system. All that is needed is a some discarded fruit boxes (Costco), mesh wire and a box fan.
