i have an extra plastic fermentation bucket, and i want to add a spigot to it and use it as a bottling bucket, and my question is can i use a spigot from home depot, or would i need to buy a food grade spigot??

for the short amount of time that the beer has to touch the spigot one from homedepot should be fine as long as your racking cane tubing will fit on it.

i agree with father's statement. clean it up good before you use it for the first time and you'll be fine.

You'll be fine if it's a good quality spigot. I know some folks use a plastic spigot from walmart's camping section just fine. The biggest issue is if you can attach a hose to it for your bottling wand, or if like me, you attach your want directly to the spigot and bottle high, if you can attach it easily.
