i want to use a 5 galloncarboy

i have 3 gallons apple juice

will it be the wrong thing to do if i was to add 2 gallons of water to bring it up to 5 gallons

or should i just do a 3 gallon batch

Yes, if you have 3 gallons of juice make 3 gallons of cider, or buy more juice!

yes it will, just do a 3 gallon batch, otherwise you will have some really really light cider.

don't water down a perfectly good cider... just use your 3 gallons, and preferrably get a smaller carboy... that's a lot of headspace for something to go wrong...

or like Yooper said, go get 2 more gallons of juice...
