I'm gonna take the plunge and try a partial mash. I found a site online that sells PM kits, but am not familiar with this option:

Brewvint Alcohol Boost

Anyone use this before? Its supposed to boost ABV by 1%. Is it just something that is added to the wort at boil?

Thank
M

Typically those (IIRC) are basically just sugar. I am pretty sure the coopers/mr.beer kits come with boost sugar.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd forget it and just use more malt.

There is nothing wrong with adding a small amount of suar to a balanced recipe but I don't see the point of paying extra $$ for a marketing ploy aimed at novices.

Stay away from that stuff! I added some to my AHS ESB, and I couldn't get my FG lower than 019 after 4 weeks.. Tasted like crap after 4 weeks in the bottle, too. I hid 48 bottles in the back of a closet in the hopes that when we discover them in July, the beer will be tasty.
