They have a 1 Acre beer garden on premise which is awesome. They serve you and then you can walk around with your beer. There are ponds and little islands with chair to chill on. It was surreal.

Thanks for the pics! Might be heading to SoCal on 4th of July weekend to hit up as many breweries as possible, and Stone is a must. That outdoor bar is insane with 36 taps! They better not run out of growlers before I get there. You're also reminding me to post some info on my visits to Anchor and Russian River.

That beer garden must be amazing in the weather we're having these days.

Sweet pics! Thanks for sharing.

I loved the picture of the little 5 gal. carboy tucked away. And the chill garden looks pretty cool.

Must go there some day.

Ahhh, thanks for the memories!! I can't wait to visit again next time I'm in San Diego visiting my daughter.

wow, very cool. The idea of the acre garden is really cool and different, seems it would be a relaxing place to try some beer, instead of being inundated by stupid espn talking heads at all times...

Great pics!

My wife & I were in San Diego last fall. We stopped in the Stone brewery and just made it for the tour/tasting. I have been a huge fan of their beers for some time so I was thrilled to get the tour & tasting. We stayed for dinner & beers and actually made it back there 3 other times that week. What a place... Their brewpub/beer garden is as incredible as their beers. Seeing your pics makes me wanna go back!

That must be what Heaven is like. There'd also be live bands 24/7 and no hangovers or beer guts!:ban:

I am jackson_d's raging jealousy....

those of us in illinois who care to look know that for some reason Stone Brewery and the politically influenced state of IL liquor distribution engine do not get along. we in IL are not privy to this amazing breweries treasures. we have to travel north to Kenosh, WI, just over the border, to even get a taste of these fantastic treats from a large supermarket called Woodman's...

i have only heard bits and pieces but from what i thought i understood (or possibly made up all by myself while i was drunk and pouty one night) is that Stone refuses to deal with the ridiculous red tape and hoops to be jumped through to sell to IL. remember when Larry Bell got made at the IL distribution system and stopped selling Bell's to IL for two whole years! are you serious!? no Hopslam, Two Hearted, or Oberon for two freakin years!? i think i cried alone in the dark a few times... thank god its back now..

i wish i knew why, but I cant get Stone in Chicago, or anywhere in IL for that matter. and these brewery tour pics had me looking at air fare to san diego this afternoon, i was about 5 seconds away from clicking 'purchase tickets'

I completely agree. However, I will be going to SD at the end of July and will definitely be visiting. I have only tried a couple of their beers, so I am looking forward to trying a few more. If only I could bring a growler back.

there are a few fairly large breweries in southern california you could visit, Karl Strauss comes to mind but stone was great. Plus san diego would be a nice place to relax, you should buy the tickets and stimulate the economy

Awsome place was there last October. Got to re-route the family after a day in LegoLand.

I think it turned my wife's views on beer around a little bit in that it looks more like a winery (and I mean that in a good sense) than a factory.

I don't know if anyone mentioned their food is excellent there.

I had Ale Smith's Grand Cru there (I realize it's not there's but they have a lot of "guest" beers) and it might be the best beer I've ever tasted.

hmm I brag about my visit there, and 4 days later bam. coincidence? hehe. anyway I hope you had as much fun as I did there. Did you eat in their amazing restaurant?

yea i had to go...i had the artisan sausages with braised cabbage and garlic potatoes and stone beer ground mustard. it was a bit overpriced but very good

I wouldn't bother with Karl Strauss. Stone is the biggest and most impressive. Port/Lost Abbey is right down the street and is pretty cool. Green Flash is small, but it is there.

I would hit up those, Ballast Point, and Alesmith before I considered Karl.

Great Pics!!!
I work for a company based out of Vista, CA and someday I would like to work at the corporate office. According to the map, this would put me a mere 17 minutes away. If I needed more of a reason to move west, I just found it! Thanks again!

3000 miles from stone but still get to enjoy their brews. looks like a very friendly place. thanks for sharing:mug:

are those taps/bar in the "I Am a Craft Brewer Too" video when they pour a pint?

I really need to go there some time! Oh btw those first few pics with like 30 taps yea thats what my beer room looks like.... i wish.

they use wired belgian taps suposedly....all i know is they would pour the beer straight down the middle of the glass and it came out well carbonated with a perfect head.

And i will have to checkout alesmith and the few others down there. Im not huge on Karl Strauss either but its closer than san diego

Yeah, man. That place rocks. I was just there myself back in early May and did the tour. The food was really good too.

I picked up a bottle of their Arogant Bastard Ale and Porter last week from Bevmo. I didn't like either and now thinking twice about taking the drive down there.

you have to like full flavor beers to be at home with Stone...Personally i tried their pale on tap and thought it was the worst beer i had tasted in many months but the rest were great, There smoked porter is a personal favorite of mine although i guess everyone has a different pallet...Have you tried any others?

I 2nd that, the smoked porter rocks and there russian imp. stout is I believe my all time fav. beer. But here I sit stuck in Iowa were I cant get it. sniff sniff boo hoo I need to move back to Cali.

Might have just applied for an entry assistant brewer position at stone. Yup, I did. Imagine it would have to be an amazing place to work.
