Well, this one's just about in the books. Just waiting for the wort to chill down so I can pitch the starters:

http://www.billy-gray.com/hobbies/recipes/07-03-2006_Oliviafest.html

Everything went about as smoothly as it could and I hit all my temps and finished in just under 6hrs which ain't bad considering the mash schedule. It will be lagered until the end of Sept/beginning of Oct so at least I've got that part of the timing right! Next year I'll get started in March with everybody else.

Looks sweet. I hope you know that you'll need to convert your turkey-frier back to it's original purpose for a day, so that you can eat whole, deep-fried chickens with your 'fest.
It's tradition, ask anyone!

Moved it into 'racking position' from the fridge and kicked up a little sediment. Letting it settle for a few hours and then into the keg it goes! Due date is Sept. 29th, but BOTSOBvBG (Bearer of the Spawn of me) says it'll be sooner. I'm not taking any chances and want it to be carb'ed for a toast!

Holy crap! The due date was bang on! That's a first in my books... Wish I could share some of that 'fest with you but I'm off to a little island south of Miami on the 7th... ;)

How is that Oktoberfest treating you ;)

Can't go wrong with that malt bill: Pilsner and Munic.

Treating me to about 2 pints at the moment. IMHO it came out really well, although I'll probably go with AB's dark Munich malt next time which in reality is only 8-10L, not the 25-30L stuff. It's a bit lighter than I was expecting, but I think at the light end of the Oktoberfest range. Maltiness is right, and I think the IBU's are perfect for this one. I'm fairly impressed with my first lager, but there's definitely plenty of room for improvement. Thanks for turning my on to them!

Yep, they called the 29th, and 29th it was. Definitely the American in her and not the Mexican (regarding her punctuality).

Have fun on the island and keep your bunghole covered!

I will be by to sample your Okto...ah...I mean see your new baby this weekend, if that's Ok

You know, I have another baby now. Planning to brew this again the week between Christmas and NYE, maybe a batch of Oliviator, as well. Think I'll try the 8-10L or 15L Munich malt this time, though.
