Does anyone really know what type or the closest style of hops that were used back in the 1700's when Enland started brewing the IPA's? Any guesses or thoughts? My guess would be of course Fuggles and/or Goldings but that's just a guess...Would they have imported or got hops from other countries perhaps?

Goldings is one of the oldest cultivars, and probably the only "historical" option. Check out the following blog post:
