I just brewed my first IPA using strictly the Columbus hop. I would like to get a good feel for the different hop flavor profiles first hand and not just from what I read.

Any recommendations on which hop I should try next?

The one caveat is that I'm switching from extract to AG. Given the fact that my next batch is going to be my first AG brew should I put my quest on hold until I become more familiar with the process? I would hate for my inexperience to influence my opinion of a perfectly good hop.

I love citra but it's not great as the lone hop

Its great by itself 3Floyds has proof :)

Zombie Dust - Citra only
Gumball Head - Amarillo only

I brewed an American Wheat hopped with Citra only and it was a great beer. I also pulled it off as an extract, when your shooting for a simpler malt build and want to have a hoppy beer nothing wrong with exploiting the simplicity of extract brewing.

Some of my favorites....Ammarillo, Citra, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin, Southern Cross, Cascade, Centenial, Chinook,

mmmmm I love hops
