This is a barley wine recipe, I came up with a couple months back before I started all my reading on the subject, and before I cam to hbt. I kinda wanted it sweet, and not extremely hoppy, so this is what I came up with. By the way, in my early days I didn't know better, so I mashed at 158.

It's been in the bottle almost a month now, tried just to see where it is at. It's not entirely sweet as I would suspect now, but it's kinda rough. Not non-drinkable though. Think I got a buzz just taking a few sips....lol..

Let me know what you guys think.

If it's good now, it will be better later. If it tastes like ass, then it's probably going to taste like muted ass later. I'm not an expert on barleywines, but I agree with mike, it needs more hops.

I was shooting for an English style barley wine.

OG FG IBUs SRM ABV
1.060 - 1.090+ 1.015 - 1.022+ 30 - 60+ 10 - 22+ 6 - 9+%

I think you've got an old version of the BJCP guidelines, English Barleywine is OG 1.080-1.120, IBUs 35-70, SRM 8-22 now.

You're high on gravity, and middling-low on IBUs. I prefer English Barleywines to American ones, but I'd still want to up those IBUs into the mid 50s.
