Hi all,

I'm looking for suggestions for an IPA recipe. These are the ingredients I have on hand:

Grain:
2 row
Crystal 30L
Crystal 60L
Chocolate malt
Flaked barley
roast barley

Hops:
Cascade
Amarillo
Fuggles
Centennial
Northern Brewer
Willamette

Any ideas are appreciated!

Throw it all together and make a Black IPA. Centennial for bitter, unless you don't have that much then put the amarillo in for the whole boil too. Cascade for the flavor, amarillo if you can save some for the end of the boil. Dry hop with fuggles and willamette because it's what you have left.

Grain bill: 2 row, crystal 30 and 60.

Hops: Centennial, Cascade and Amarillo.

Sounds tasty. I may have to make this myself.

This.

11 lbs 2 row, and a half pound of each of the crystals.

Centennial to ~60 IBUs and hit it late and dry with cascade and amarillo.

I should mention that I have large quantities of all those hops, and a good amount of all the grains. I'm not just trying to use up something.

Why both? C30 and C60

In a really hoppy beer, it makes for better depth of flavor.

Looks awesome man. I would mash at 149 (I like my IPAs dry), and move that 30 min up to 20 min, the 15 up to 10, and the 5 up to flameout. Then I would add some cascade in the dry hop. But it's your beer, make it however you like.

I should mention that I have large quantities of all those hops, and a good amount of all the grains. I'm not just trying to use up something.

I'd use this hop schedule (I don't really seem to get much from a 30 minute addition):

2 oz centennial @ 60
1 oz amarillo @5
1 oz cascade @5
1 oz amarillo @0
1 oz cascade @0

1-2 oz of each amarillo and cascade for dry hopping for ~7 days

But I really love hops!

Why don't you go one further and do mash hopping and first wort hopping on top of your bittering and aroma/ flavor additions?

+1 on the Black IPA.

I'd use the following guidelines & just adjust quantities based on the gravity you want. If you go for a higher gravity, I'd do a 90 min boil.

GRAIN BILL
- 85% 2-Row
- 10% Roasted Barley & Chocolate (combo)
- 5% C30 & C60 (combo)

HOP SCHEDULE (I shoot for 1 to 1.25 IBUs per gravity point)
- Centennial at 90 or 60 min for bittering
- Amarillo at 15,10,5,0 for flavor/aroma
- Cascade for dry hop
