So, my chest freezer was delivered last Friday and spent a week making sure my temps stayed correct (and I was just too busy last weekend anyhow).

I had yesterday off, so decided to tackle this thing while the wife was at work and kids are back in school.

I still need to figure out something for the body of the chest, but the top and coffin are pretty much done. It took me about a solid 4 hours with only a circular saw, miter saw, and a drill.

The freezer is a 9.0cf Frigidaire from Lowes for 250.00, the faucets and shanks were 19.99 each from homebrewstuff (wife almost banned the project when she saw the price of the perlicks...so I just went with standard ones), all oak wood, and tile is from Lowes and cost about 140.00

Inside it fits four pin locks on the floor as well as my 5lb co2 tank. I still have the entire hump free. I'm thinking of making a small collar and then I could fit two more kegs. My coffin could be easily modified for two more faucets at any time.

Thank you all for the great ideas and feedback while surfing through the huge thread of all the different keezers.

Now for the keezer porn...

The lighting is cool and while I'm fairly new to the site, I have not seen it done yet. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks...the lighting has actually been done several times and is one thing I knew I wanted after seeing Jesters build. My only issue was that I could only find rope lighting in 12ft strips and didnt need anywhere near that much...so I went with a 16in strip light that I picked up at Lowes

That looks great. I was thinking about doing something similar with my kegerator... but I didn't think I'd be able to open the lid with the wall behind it.

How are you dealing with that issue?

Although this is not where the keezer stayed, it is tucked nicely in a corner against a wall...

...I produce more than I consume (thank goodness) so a typical keg will last 6-8 weeks. Now that there are three to pull from, I anticipate kicking them even less often. The entire unit is not that heavy and can be pulled away from the wall by myself to swap out kegs

right now I have a **** ton of wine bottles on the hump inside. My wife had some of her friends over last night while I was at work and was able to move it by herself to get at the wine

I suppose another viable option would be to put a dolly underneath it with some casters so it could be rolled easily, but right now I just don't see the need...I like that it turned out to be the exact same height as our kitchen cabinetry.

did you mean to type $140 for the tile? HOLY MOLY!

Haha...nope, the tile itself is the vinyl self adhesive type. I wanted to try and keep the weight down so went that route. I just ran a few beads of liquid nail on the backside just to make sure it didnt go anywhere and stuck it right to the plywood top.

Just an update...had a bit of time today, so I took advantage and wrapped the chest...now for stain

Too bad I won't be able to enjoy it this weekend because I will be in Vegas tomorrow morning.

Oh, "poor" Agentaaron has to go to Vegas. Are you going to the fight?

The build looks great, BTW!

Thank you...

Yes, we considered driving but a 45 minute flight coupled with an awesome deal of 40.00/round trip per ticket was to good to pass up on :)

Cheers
