Scored a # of Cascade hops @ a good deal so want to use some of them up in my next batch. I'm really not a big fan of IPA's. So was wondering if anyone can recommend some all grain, non- IPA recipies. Thnx.

You won't be using 16 oz. of hops in one beer unless it is an IPA of sorts.

I would suggest using them across 4 batches or so.

SNPA Clone
American Amber
Cream Ale
American Style Bitter

^^^ I was thinking stout or porter as well. Really, any American style would be fine with these, but a big stout or porter will help you use a lot of them, if that's what you're after. Don't discount barley wines, either.

It wasn't my intent to use the whole # lol. Just wanted to use up a couple ounces in my next batch. Thnx for the input fellas...

I received an American Wheat recipe from a friend and I brewed it last week. The original recipe called for Amarillo hops and WLP001 but I swapped those out with Cascade and US-05 since I had them on hand. The original recipe is based off the Gumball Head Wheat

Red Sloth Wheat 1.052/1.012 (6 gal.)
Grain Bill (70% Efficiency assumed)

6 lbs. – Red Wheat Malt
5 lbs. - 2-Row Pale Malt
1 lb. - Caravienne Malt

Hop Schedule

1/4 oz. - Cascade - First Wort Hop
1/4 oz. - Cascade - 60 min.
1/2 oz. - Cascade - 15 min.
1.25 oz. - Cascade - 5 min.
1 oz. - Cascade - 1 min.
1.5 oz. - Cascade - Dry Hop

Yeast

Safale US-05

Mash/Sparge/Boil

Mash at 153° for 60 min.
Sparge as usual
Cool and ferment at 68° to 70°

Deschutes Mirror Pond uses all cascades. I love that beer, and there is a good clone reciped posted on the forums.

You can always sub out some of the other hops in a recipe with some of the cascades for a more diverse hop flavor/aroma or even as part of the bittering charge.

Funny you suggested this. I was actually looking @ his recipe earlier this morning, before you posted this lol

I have brewed this and Edwort's Haus Pale Ale. Both are excellent all cascade recipes. Both are simple to brew. Da Yoops is a little more complex, with a little darker color. Edwort's is a little lighter color and body. Edwort's is a bit cheaper to brew.

My wife loves Da Yooper's so I try to keep it on hand.

You can't go wrong with either one, though.

Cascade pale ale

84% 2 row
7% victory
4% C120
4% Carapils

1oz cascade 60min
1oz cascade 15min
1oz cascade 10min
1oz cascade 5min
1oz cascade 1min
2oz cascade dry hop (1-2weeks)

I also add zest from 3 medium oranges near the end of the boil.

Awesome beer! House staple!
