After scouring this site for the past few months, I came up with this rig. After buying my first Blichmann burner, then my second, then a plate chiller, water filter, etc., everything was kinda scattered all over the back porch. So I decided to use the parts I all ready had and build a rolling structure to bolt it all down to. I think I am finally finished! (for now)

I am going to give it a trial run this weekend. Thanks to all the threads with pics and diagrams, and the help of some fellow brewers that helped me with some wiring issues.

Wow! That's impressive! Have you never brewed, or is this just your first official "rig"?

Chapa....started brewing Nov. of last year, before that my boy's got me a wine kit for fathers day. I did that until I ventured out to another supplier. They had all these grain tubs, kettles, beer on tap in the back room. I went to one of their brew classes and got hooked. Beer brewing is way more challenging than the wine kits and I really enjoy the challenge.

That's awesome! I'm sure you'll love that rig!! Welcome to the obsession!! :mug:

Awesome! Did you weld up that brew stand too? I'm moving to Oklahoma next year. I want to build something like that for all of my beer stuff, but need to wait until after the 4,000 mile move.

That is slick! A hybrid system? No temp control for the hlt and using rims to maintain temp during mash?

I bought two 24' sticks of 2"x2" 11ga tubing for the frame work. I had a piece of expanded metal for the tops. I got the square finishing plugs for the ends of the tube from M/Carr and the wheels from my local Grainger. The clamps that hold the RIMS tube were also from M/Carr.

I built the first rims tube like the one Sawdustguy shows in the "RIMS for dummies" thread. I did a Black Butte Porter that called for a 3 step mash. I heated the water to strike temp according to Beer Smith added the grains and started the circulation and heater. Set the control for 130° and let run. It then called for a 156° temp. I reset the PID and let it run. Last step was 168°. Mash temp stays within 1° or so. It worked so well I ordered this tube from Brewers Hardware. I like the way it comes apart to clean it.

Rob, that is fantastic work for a first brew rig! I hope you'll post your system data to my list of homebrew systems. You can see the list at http://brewbot.org/breweries. It is sortable and filterable.

The site is a labor of love, completely non-commercial, intended to be an inspiration for DIYers building their own systems.

Clean and functional systems like yours are great inspiration, especially given that this one is your first! It shows that experience is not necessarily required for quality!

If you'd like to post your system info, please use this web form: http://brewbot.org/brewery-submission

Cheers!
