Our Home Brew is having a Competition for a Stout style :)

And I want to do a Sweet Stout style and want it to be with in AHA/BJCP for
scoreing, will this work??

8# Marris Otter
.75 Crystal Malt
4.0 OZ roasted barley
8.0 OZ Choc Malt
1# lactose 15 min
Kent hops
WLP 002

Well, it looks like a good stout, definitely english in character. What crystal malt will you be using? You may need a combination of medium and dark (assuming you're using english crystals) to hit 30SRM which is what BJCP wants, or you can use more of the roasted malts. Gravity is where it needs to be and just be sure to bitter to the appropriate IBU per the guidelines if you're brewing specifically for competition.

Use a calculator like hopville.com's beer calculus to figure out what your batch will be like as far as style guidelines go. You'll need to adjust the lovibond of the ingredients you have available to you.
