So I'm in the middle of my first ever brew. Long story short I got a Mr. Beer for $4 that I just wanted to try (have ordered a full kit now as I am addicted).

So I brewed last Saturday, then after 20 hours w/o yeast activity I figured my dry Mr. Beer pack that was who know how old was dead (textbook reason to rehydrate + make a starter). I then pitched some White Labs California Ale and it finally took off.

Since it was just sitting there for 20 hours I was really paranoid about contamination. I took a small sample today and to my joy it tasted like BEER! woo hoo. it of course was flat but it also tasted somewhat watered down.

Will sitting longer help it get more flavor? I was planning on bottling either at 7 or 10 days, but I don't know now.

Any tips? thanks!

Yeah, just let it work its magic and you'll be fine. Patience, patience. :D

As for bottling, I don't know anything about Mr Beer's process, but I'd recommend letting it ferment for longer. I'd say 10-14 days, personally.
