Quick and easy question here I hope! :fro:

Does my secondary need to be the same size as my primary? or if I used say a 6.5G carboy primary but plan on using a 5G secondary? I presume since the most active fermentation is done this would be ok? or do i need to use a 6 or 6.5G for a secondary as well?

(Just trying to figure out my logistics as I start my next brew)

Cheers!

I have both 2 5's and one 6. The 6 is used for 6 gallon batches :D and the 5 for 5. Headspace is really only a concern with long term lagering and usually only if you open it. The CO2 produced will push out the air. As long as you leave it closed with an airlock on until you are ready to keg/bottle I wouldn't be overly worried about headspace. Especially since you plan on using the larger one for primary this is even less of a concern.
