I was wondering if I could bottle cider in some sealable mason jars. Has anyone done or tried this yet? I have a bunch lying around and figured they might be useful for this but don't want to be the idiot that tried it and had a whole batch of bottle bombs. Thoughts anyone?

Not a good idea, mason jars are not designed to hold pressure. You could use them for still cider, though.

2nd on the mason jars.... Not a good idea

They are meant for negative pressure canning, not a positive pressure that is produced with carbonation. The thin metal lids would exploded in no time flat. The only possible thing would be a water-bathed pasteurized still cider. Nothing with a positive pressure, non-pasteurized or carbonated cider would work at all.
