im going to go out at 1:32 est time to see the start of the umbral shadow. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_2010_lunar_eclipse wiki has lots of info on the eclipse.

Wait until the moon is entirely in the umbra. That's when the moon either disappears or, more commonly, turns anything from ghostly blue-gray to wort-chiller color.
its far to cloudy to get a shot....I give up I'll just wait another 400 years for the next one.

The skies here just cleared in time to see the moon turn from a white sliver into a full red moon, awesome. Too bad I don't have a camera. Oh, well. Now I'm going to sleep.
