My favorite beer ever was the Pintail Ale from Bridgeport. I asked Bridgeport for the recipe and they said they don't give out recipes but told me
"I can tell you that Pintail used a lot of Munich malt and Ahtanum hops for flavor"

So.... will my local Homebrew Supply store likely carry Munich Malt? I am assuming that the Ahtanum hops would go in at the 60 minute mark?

Here are some links to the beer if anyone can throw some tips my way as afar as specialty grains, etc.

Bridgeport described the beer as a "Copper Ale"

Brewer's Description:
"Our Pintail Copper Ale features a balance of imported specialty malts and domestic and imported European hops, to create a charismatic brew that appeals to the beer drinker in all of us." Original Gravity - 12.5
Alcohol Content (ABV): 5.2%
Calories: 161
Carbohydrates: 15
Bitterness (IBU): 18

Here are review links that will hopefully help

I was planning on leaning heavily on the guy at the brewstore or the copycat recipe book

The flavor hops generally go in at the 15 minute mark- not 60 minutes. The 60 minute hops are the bittering hops. I've never had that beer, so I can't be much help though!

Your homebrew store will have Munich malt.

First of all thank you both!

The beer wasn't bitter.....actually really smooth

I guess my best bet is going to be to copy a comparable recipe.

I am probably going to use mostly pale ale grain with some caramel to achieve the copper. Sound good?
