Whats your thoughts on commercial christmas/holiday beers?

I like some. I think they are a good thing especially to change it up from what you normally buy.

Southern Tier released 2XMAS ale this year and it's pretty damn good, but Great Lakes Christmas Ale is still my favorite.

I agree, it is very good. The body of a barleywine without over-heaviness; the freshness of an IPA without over-bitterness. And, none of the funky flavors (pumpkin, allspice, etc.) that befoul most seasonals.
