I just got my first issue of zymurgy.I was going through it and saw an ad for these plastic conicals. Has anyone used these or are they worth it. One day ill be able to drop the cash for a stainless, but to start out with maybe the plastic?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

This question gets asked a lot, but I don't know of anyone on here that actually has used one (maybe there are a silent few). I suggest you purchase one and report back. :D

Seriously though, we all have fermented in plastic buckets anyway so I think this is a reasonable alternative for the stainless conicals.

I don't know exactly which ones were featured in Zymurgy, but I've used one of these plastic conicalsonce now and had a great success...

I'd go with one of them before jumping into the stainless. Cheaper and just as good IMO. The biggest drawback about them is that they don't fit in any normal fridge or chest freezer.
