I don't see many posts here on this issue.

Maybe some help in deciding to use or not might be in order.

For you more experienced brewers, do you use them or not, and if so, under what conditions and for what type of brews?

I'm about to make a Honey Ale and I don't know if I should try it.
 
Definitely try it. If you like its effects, keep using it.

Lots of people will tell you that those products are a waste if you have time to let a beer settle completely in primary or secondary. If you don't want to wait, they will generally speed things up.
 
I use whirlfloc in the boil. It really helps settle the break material, then once I transfer to primary, any remaining trub settles out very quickly.
 
I've had good success with Whirlfloc compared to rehydrated Irish moss or nothing at all. The dosing (1 tablet per batch) is convenient and I feel like my gunk settles out faster.
 
I have had some incredibly clear brews using irish moss, cold crashing, and gelatin.

Just bought some whirlfloc to try. Although I read that it is simply irish moss.
