I was rehydrating my yeast for the first time...
I microwaved a glass of water threw it in a little bowl. I let the temperature drop down to 98 degress... but instead of waiting 20 mins... I immediatly started mixing it.... then I let it sit for 20 mins and now im mixing it again.

It smells like rotten eggs and its not real thick like its suposed to be...

i've pitched at that temp a couple times. you usually end up with shocked yeast, so fermentation is slower, but not usually dead. sulphur smell? probably bad yeast in the first place

98°F, right? That's pretty average for rehydrating AFAIK. Some manufacturers recommend as high as 104°F.

Yea when I left this morning it seemed like it was fermenting... bubbles in the airlock and I could smell the wort. :rockin:
