Mini Mash Tun Questions

I have a 2Gal cooler I would like to use for Mini-Mashing. I wondered why everyone uses the brass fitting on there MLT Coolers. I found all the parts I need in PVC and Watts plastic parts. The PVC pieces esp the valve are considerably cheaper. I just wanted to know if there was a reason people do not use them.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I belive the PVC items will start breaking down with the heat you will be using and I think it can start leaching stuff into your mash. I'm sure if you do a search for PVC on here you will get to some of the conversations about this.

PVC will leach nasty stuff at higher temperatures. You need to use CPVC.
