Just wondering what everybody else does. So far I try to wash down the sides of the kettle with the stirring spoon during the boil to get the hop residue back into the wort as it boils. Does this matter or am I just wasting my time and that bit on the side of the kettle does not really matter as far as finished taste.

My OCD personality demands that I check and wash down the residue as well. I'm afraid i'd have a nervous breakdown if I tried not to...so I can't tell you if it makes a difference or not.

I have heard that it makes a difference, but can't really say for sure. Seems like it would to me though, so I always get it all back in.
