I am about to begin brewing a version of Bells Two Hearted and have a question about the starter. I typically use Breiss golden light DME for my American IPA starters, but the closest shop to me that has it is a hassle to get to and a bit of a drive. A supply store closer to where I live just started stocking some beer making supplies, but the selections pretty much stink. However, they do carry Muntons amber DME. Will using an amber make a difference in the final product or should I deal with the extra travel and get the golden light?

You should be fine with the amber DME. Just be sure to decant some before pitching. The volume of the pitch won't be significant enough to dramatically effect the taste of the finished beer.
