I am a firm believer that a man's (or a woman') choice in beer says nothing about their character. It is merely a preference.

This, however, does not apply to hard liquor, and definitely not to cocktails. As a rule, I always watch what I say around a man drinking a gin martini.

Another thing that speaks volumes about a person is their preference in mattress firmness. I have it down to an art. After knowing someone for a few weeks, I can accurately guess whether they are a firm or a soft mattress sleeper at least 80% of the time. Its a gift really.

Lastly, and most importantly, a lot of our personality is tied up in our egg preference. I'm not saying there arent folks out there who like EVERY style of eggs, since I am one of them, but everyone has a fall-back egg style that they order more often than not.

Ok, so maybe not personality, but I'm still curious who prefers what. I had my first soft boiled egg the other day in 25 years and I am newly hooked! I have flirted with over easy and then sunny-side up, but I gotta say, something about spooning egg onto buttered toast makes me feel cultured...

I'm going to just put myself out there and guess that Homer is most likely a hard boiled man...

Cadbury cream eggs for me. Or Benedict if the others aren't in season.

The trick is to buy a few cases of CCE the day after Easter. That will keep you in them till they come out in January the next year. I have 2 cases sitting in my freezer right now.

Not a fan of eggs. I think it is because I never have had good ones.

LOL! As I was reading your post, Creamy, I thought, "I bet he is just WAITING to see what kind of egg man I am!"

For the record, I "normally" eat my eggs over easy, but honestly, I am not choosy. I like them just about any way they can be made. I will have to say that hard boiled is near the bottom of my list. I can't recall ever having soft boiled, though. Might have to give it a try. Probably won't care for it, though. I don't usually go for cultured things. Yoghurt is ok with enough of the right kind of fruit.

I don't hate eggs, but I never want them.

No matter what, I have to have bacon or sausage to eat with it to give a little flavor and texture.

Spicy devilled eggs can be good, but again, I NEVER crave them or choose them if there is much else to choose from.

I love scrambled, on the runny side, with hot sauce or something else mixed-in...in fact, the more stuff I can mix together (potatoes, sausage, veggies, cheese, dash of hot-sauce) the better.

I also like over medium and will often eat a dozen deviled eggs on Thanksgiving (or whenever they're around). Hard boiled are OK but I like to keep the yolk a bit soft so there is some juiciness.

Scrambled or over hard. No runny-ness for me please. Oh and how about a bit of cheese on it there, oh ya and drop that on a nice toasted muffin with some sausage or bacon that would be great thanks. You're the best.

Over easy, then placed on top of a pile of mashed potatoes. Grew up with this concoction in a dutch family. Get a couple of slices of fried balkenbrij next to that and you're a Hollander.

If you want to be fancy, make mashed potato egg boats. Who doesn't have a pile of leftover mashed potatoes in the fridge?

I haven't found a type of eggs yet that I dont like! Anyway and style.

Ok..... maybe not rotten eggs.

Yeah, I only like runny eggs if I have something like toast or hashbrowns to eat them with. That way they are great. Eggs benedict, or any of the other similar preparations, can be delicious. Otherwise, I go for scrambled or an omelette. It is hard to beat a good deviled egg!

Pickled eggs are by far my favorite. With jalapeño slices and Tabasco sauce, of course.

I like them, just always seem to be in some giant jar where you have no idea who/what has been inside...kinda like a...nevermind.

Man I am hungry for some eggs now! Just got a dozen and a half from a guy at work who has chickens. If I only had some bacon grease and a small pan and some bread and a toaster...

Well, I'm heading out in a few minutes so I can participate in the Guild Wars 2 Stress Test anyway, so maybe I'll fry up some eggs as an after dinner snack.

I'm liking that mashed potatoes concoction. Put that on my weekend plans.

This is the third time, that I know of, that one of my stupid threads has lead to the exchange of useful information.

Creamy Goodness, stupidity for a better tomorrow.

Three eggs over easy, one on top of the other with a slice of cheese between the layers, chopped up with a fork and spooned over an english muffin.

For my money (and time) it doesn't get any better than a homemade egg/sausage/cheese on an english muffin. Eggs straight up I prefer either scrambled or over easy. If they're scrambled I usually leave them a little 'underdone' so I don't end up w/ dried egg cakes lol. All in all though, I'm not too picky.

I love eggs. Fried in butter or bacon grease & overeasy does it.

I'll warn everyone, you do NOT want to be around me when I eat hard boiled eggs.

Then there's the chicken stress toy with included egg!

I love just about all types of eggs. Love egg salad sandwiches with bacon-bits!.

Anyone ever have a turkey egg? My parents have a few laying turkeys on their ranch.

Any style from my backyard. I've learned how to make really good scrambled eggs - once you figure that out it's hard not to love them. I'm was over-easy guy.

Hmmmm- a gin martini (very dry) is the best cocktail in the world. I don't even care if it's Tanqueray Ten, Bombay Sapphire or even Beefeater- all wonderful to me.

But I hate eggs. Hate them in all forms.

I've said it before, and I will say it again, if I am ever forced into a fist-fight with Yooper, I will immediately submit.

She speaks of "wine-whips" AND drinks gin martinis? Yeah... not THIS cowboy.

I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted. :drunk:

Quite a few HBT'ers have met me in person, so maybe that could tell you if I'm really intimidating or not.

But I'm 135 pounds, and pretty small (size 4). Even though I play hockey, I don't see me really scaring anybody!

Oh goodness, I hope you arent insulted. As you know, my sense of humor is... odd. I will say your current avatar is a lot less intimidating than the first one I saw you wearing, thats for sure.

Scrambled with chorizo, skillet potatoes, onions, and green peppers is a first choice. But if I had it my way, and it was easier and healthier, Benedict all the way! If you love eggs Benedict - and are ever in Seattle - its worth the price of admission to sit at the top of the Space Needle and savor their fine brunch and eggs beni!

For breakfast ... fried, easy over - and with the toast buttered, with a dash of salt and lots of pepper then the toast cut into little squares and dipped into the egg.

Pickled eggs are the whip. I’ve got some in the icebox right now.
They used to have a big jar each of pickled eggs, picked sausages and pickled hocks at the Irish bar I used to hang out at in Detroit, O’Halloran’s Tipperary Pub. It was all the nutrition you needed to survive ... dark beer and the things in those jars. Add potatoes and you’ve got a full blown holiday ... the Irish Miracle ... the “holy trinity”. (all this talk makes a man thirsty ... rip me liver out I’m dry).

Or getting home from the bar without having eaten, I’ve often made “Strammer Max” ... which is basically a piece of heavy rye bread grilled with butter and then topped with a slice of ham, a fried egg, and cheese - emmentaler or munster or swiss cheese. When I was younger and still living with my folks sometimes instead of ham I’d make Strammer Max using something called leberkase which is a sort of traditional German meatloaf.

Don't you also hate cheese?!?!? Man, sometimes, it's like I don't even know you!!!!:(

Hmmm, I guess, technically, I don't. :D

I love eggs almost any style, but I'd have to say my favorite would be an omelette with any combination of ingredients folded in. Meats, veggies, mushrooms, and of course cheese. Then topped with hot sauce, avocado, and sour cream.

I'm not a huge egg fan, but I will eat them almost any way (except deviled eggs). I normally eat them over easy, but lately I have been poaching eggs at home.

When I was younger my father raised turkies , geese , ducks and chickens. Eggs from all of them made their way on my plate, but nothing beats a free range turkey egg sunny side up with sausage and toast for dipping. I like eggs prepared almost any way except boiled

Make a grilled cheese. Fry an egg over easy on top and spoon the sauce below over it.

Sauce:
1 tbs hoison
1 tbs sambal
1 tsp oyster sauce (optional)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

Put a small amount of oil in a pan and get it hot (~350F) add the hoison, sambal and oyster sauce. Cook for about 10 seconds. Add the soy sauce and vinegar.

Reduce until consistency you like it. I like it slightly thickened so it sticks to food but runny enough to still mix with the egg yolk.

I made that sauce up awhile ago and have had it on pasta with a poached egg on top as well. Something about it makes it work with lots of starchy goodness.

Over easy, on top of a waffle with plenty of syrup. Damn good. Otherwise, if it has to be directly on a plate, over easy, so I can eat all the whites and leave the yolk intact and eat it whole. I can't stand to waste any of the yolky deliciousness across the plate.

this is how I've been getting eggs for the last year! all I can say is that cage free eggs have the best most creamy yokes and have a beautiful orange color that I'm now drooling for :) there's a app called "my perfect egg timer" that is damn accurate for soft boiled.. my favorite is over easy eggs in a basket:mug:

I've had lots of friends tell me how they like egg'n a basket (or one eye'd jacks). But I haven't tried it that way yet. There's probably lots of names for it.

I've heard:

Hole-in-one eggs
Volcano eggs
Nest Eggs

And some 13 year old genius when I was growing up came up with "Tumors".

Any which way you call 'em, if you like fried eggs and you like buttered toast, its a home run.
