I have been thinking about converting a keg using a weldless keg mash tun conversion kit. My thinking is that the screen could offer me the ability to direct fire the mash without burning the bag. Has anyone done this before to know whether it works or not?
 
I use my keggle for biab. It has a termometer and sightglass installed. I designed my bag to stop about an inch off the bottom of the barrel and its never burned. I think the screen should be enough to keep the bag off the direct heat.
